NEW DELHI: The ruling Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) party in Telangana has attacked BJP over the row that broke out following comments about Prophet Mohammad made by BJP two spokespersons which has outraged the Muslim nations and hence generated a diplomatic embarrassment for India.
TRS leader and chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s son K T Rama Rao said that it should be the ruling BJP at the Centre that should be apologizing, rather than the government of India, since the aberration has come from the party’s platform and not from the government.
“PM @narendramodi Ji, Why should India as a country apologise to the international community for the hate speeches of BJP bigots? It is BJP that should apologise; not India as a Nation. Your party should first apologise to Indians at home for spewing & spreading hatred day in day out,” he tweeted.
Rama Rao also referred to the instance of BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur allegedly describing Nathuram Godse as a patriot earlier.
“Modi Ji, Your silence was deafening & shocking when BJP MP Pragya Singh hailed the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi ” Let me remind you sir; What you permit is what you promote,“ he said.
The “tacit support from top” emboldened the “bigotry and hatred” that will cause irreparable loss to the country, Rama Rao claimed.
At a time when BJP is trying to emerge as the main challenger to KCR’s TRS in the state as it goes for assembly polls next year, TRS has lost no time in upping the ante on the saffron party, over the row which has caused diplomatic embarrassment for the party.
BJP on Sunday suspended its national spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled its Delhi media head Naveen Kumar Jindal as the row over their alleged derogatory remarks against the Prophet escalated with growing protests from some Muslim countries.
