THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health minister Veena George has allayed concerns regarding Norovirus infection which was confirmed in two children at Vizhinjam on Saturday. The minister said that the condition of the two infected children is stable. The disease can be cured through proper care, she said. The health department assessed the outbreak at Vizhinjam on Sunday and samples have been collected from the area.
Around 45 students of LMS LP school, Uchakada, were taken to various hospitals after they complained of vomiting and diarrhoea. Food safety and health department officials had jointly inspected the school after the students sought medical care. Five more students have shown similar symptoms. Food safety officials inspected the school store and sealed the room where the food materials were stored. Samples of food materials have also been collected and sent for examination.
