NEW DELHI: India on Thursday saw nearly a 40% jump with a single day rise of 12,213 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the total tally of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic to 4,32,57,730.
India’s active cases rose to 58,215 in the last 24 hours, an increase from 53,637 recorded the previous day, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday morning.
An increase of 4,578 cases has been recorded in the active caseload in a span of 24 hours. The active cases now stand at 0.13 per cent of the total infections.
With the country reporting 11 deaths related to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, India’s death toll climbed to 5,24,803 since the start of the pandemic, according to the ministry.
The government of India further reported that 7,624 Covid patients recovered in the last 24 hours. This means that the cumulative tally of recovered patients is now at 4,26,74,712. India’s recovery rate saw a slight dip at 98.65%.
India’s daily positivity rate has been recorded at 2.35 per cent while the weekly positivity rate stands at 2.38 per cent.
The last 24 hours saw a total of 5,19,419 Covid-19 tests being conducted across the country. India has so far conducted 85.63 cr cumulative tests since the start of the pandemic in 2020.
The vaccination coverage in India has so far been administered to 1,95,67,37,014, as per provisional reports updated till Wednesday morning.
India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the one-crore mark in December, 2020. The country crossed the grim milestone of two crore in May, last year and three crore in June, 2021.
